International Women's Day 2024: Celebrating Women in Tech with Lisa Pugh

Lisa Pugh works in Wholesale Orders & Resource Control, and has been with Manx Telecom since 1999. She has worked in various roles across the organisation, including Order & Service Management, Customer Experience and Consumer & Business Sales, to name a few! Lisa is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in the telecom industry.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Lisa said it's the variety. She enjoys that there's always something new to learn, a new problem to solve, or knowledge to pass on. As for her proudest accomplishment in her current role, Lisa is most proud of how her team deals with problems. There's always a lot of support for each other to find solutions, and she values that greatly.

Lisa also shared her thoughts on why having more women in the tech/telecommunications industry is important. She believes that we need more female role models in the industry. When Lisa started with Manx Telecom, she recalls there being only two women in "tech" roles. Now, the figure is much higher, with six women in her team alone. 

When asked about the most significant challenge women encounter in the tech field today, Lisa said, "If you're the right person for the job, regardless of who historically has done the job, it shouldn't matter if you're a man or a woman."

Finally, Lisa had a message for young women thinking about a career in tech: "Life's too short to have regrets. Have the confidence and just do it!" Lisa's words are a reminder that anyone can succeed in tech if they have the passion and the drive.
